Protected archive
AnsweredProspect in Ukraine requires product functionality that allows selecting part of the archive (based on the day of the week/month and time or based on the bookmarks) to be durable, protected from being overwritten once archive size exceeded available space. It would be great also to implement it in a way that administrator can also allocate space from the storage dedicated for durable records.
Do you think this can be added to the product and when?

This topic probably belongs in the New Feature Section, so I'll move it to that section so our product and design team will be aware of such demands.
For now *.exe and *.nov files can be protected with a password during export, which will be required to open the exported layout. To apply a password, use the Multi-Video tab of the Export Video dialog and check Protect with password. Encrypted layouts are indicated in the Local Files list with a locked icon ().
Note that the layout remains unlocked until the user session ends unless you choose the Forget Password option in the context menu, which closes the layout so that the password will be required to reopen it.
Password protected layouts can be changed like any other layout, but to save changes the password must be re-entered, causing Nx Witness to re-export and overwrite the existing file.
These files can be stored in any specified directory on the device.
If you want to do a centralized export, you could use a third party application for the automatic download of bookmarks. Please check the Works with Nx section on the my.networkoptix.com customer portal and search for: Connectrick; Export tool

Hi Andrew,
It'd be a great feature. We had it requested numerous times, but currently can't tell when it may be ready.
However, there are some workarounds which partially fit the user story.#1 – Currently possible
You can export all archive you want to protect from being deleted. Exported videos are usually stored on the same drive with standard archive, but are never deleted automatically. If you export them as .nov files most of the functionality of regular archive, such as timeline, bookmarks, motion search, etc., will be kept for exported videos.
#2 – Will be possible in the next major release
In the next major version it'll be possible to set up backup in a way so that only bookmarks (or motion / analytics events, or all of the above) will be backed up. Because backup is written to a separate storage, these bookmarks will not be deleted with the rest of the archive (hosted on the main storage). They eventually may be deleted when backup storage will fill up with the bookmarks, but depending on the size of the storage, amount of bookmarks and number of selected cameras, these archive may be store much longer than the other archives.

Thanks, Aleksandr. Do you know when the next major release is scheduled? Is there a release calendar? Or a public-facing roadmap?

Alas, there is no any public roadmap. I'll try to get you posted if I have any updates.

Any update here? This would be really helpful feature.
I see there is beta "5.0.0.34342" with features like:
"New Archive Backup Options:
Archive associated with one event type: recorded motion, bookmarks, or objects.
Archive associated with all combinations of event types:
motion and bookmarks
bookmarks and objects
motion and objects
motion, objects, and bookmarks"Is it save trying to use that beta on production environment containing only GeoVision cameras? Not minor (containing 80xFHD to 4k cameras).
Can I do Update from 4.2.0.32840?
Will licensing of v4.2 cover v5.0?
On top of beta update page

You have txt: "This is the latest available beta-version.
This version may be unstable. Please, do not install it without consultation with our support team.".So, I'm contacting to support team, at least trying here for now. :)

Hello karol.szkodzinski,
The good news is that Archive Encryption will be part of the release of version 5.0.
You can enable it in the System Administration menu, tab Security:
The bad news, we do not recommend using the 5.0 Beta version in a production environment, since it isn't optimized yet and bugs might occur, which we might not be able to resolve in a timespan that corresponds with a production environment. We do encourage anyone to 'play' with the 5.0 Beta version in a demo / testlab enviroment, and share feedback on our Beta Feedback section.
