LPR Camera - Char limit
AnsweredDoes NX have a limit to the number of characters in a number plate?

Hi Calypso,
There are no limitations to the number of characters in a number plate. We just display anything the ANPR camera or ANPR software sends to Nx Witness VMS.
I heard that there are limitations in some ANPR cameras and ANPR software regarding such limit and that it became an issue in the South Africa region.

Hi Norman
Yes, the big issue is the new CAA 123-456 plates, the last digit is always cut off. CAA123456, however, is fine, so maybe its the '-'. Hikvision is blaming NX. I'll need to do some on-device analysis to see where the issue lies

Hi Calypso,
I'm not so into blaming.
Please capture the communication between the Nx Witness server and the Hikvision camera and share the pcap with us.
Please keep the capture file as compact as possible by starting Wireshark, reproduce the scenario, stop Wireshark otherwise it will be a huge task to find the proper information. Here you can find some guidance on how to do the Wireshark capture.
When finished, please share the pcap file to amsterdam@networkoptix.com.
And, please also share the following information:
- IP address Nx Witness server
- IP address Hikvision LPR camera
- The license plates that are captured.

That's Norman, but I've confirmed on the cameras own interface that its the camera to blame. It seems that it doesn't support that required amount of characters.
