NX Witness mobile app turns off sound from other apps on iPhone and iPad
AnsweredHello,
I am experiencing a slight frustration with running NX Witness app on my phone (iPhone 6. NX Ver: 20.3.31784 (rev eb2b5d49d8c4), and tablet (2020 11" iPad Pro).
Each time I open the app, it cuts off the sound from all other apps on my phone.
This means that I can't monitor a camera feed while still listening to music, or other sound from the iPhone or iPad. I tried checking all settings from the desktop app, mobile app, and cloud interface, as well as the sound and notification settings for my phone. Am I missing something?
This seems to be isolated to the iPhone and iPad:
When using the NX Witness mobile app on an android device, I am able to continue to listen to a streaming service, like spotify, pandora, or youtube. I am also able to listen to sound from my computer when using the NX Witness Desktop app for Mac or Windows.

Hi Igor Peixoto and Aimee Beasley,
Thanks for the update and feedback.
I have talked to our developer internally, this is like Nx Mobile takes full (something like intercept the background) control of audio. We plan to improve this but might not be very soon.
It has been noted as a function improvement and would be fixed in the future.
Once we have the ETA, we will update you. Thanks for the assistance and feedback again.

Hi Aimee,
This is not about Nx Mobile. It is the IOS actions and it directs the sound output device for the foreground app which has the ability to input and output the audio.
This means when an APP has the ability to input the audio, then the IOS will give the audio control to the APP, both on and out. So your Spotify will be suspended.
You can see the same behavior when you are listening to the Spotify then open your camera APP to record the video in the foreground. The reason is that the app needs to take the control of both input audio and output audio for 2way audio.
So this would be the expected behavior on IOS device.

I see, thank you for your detailed response and understand the limitation.
It would be great if there could be a setting that the IOS device could detect for when the app is not going to have any use of audio input or output, which is the case for our application of NX.
Thanks again for your help0 -
Interesting.. I have other apps that also use audio but allows me to keep the background music playing.
Waze is one of them as well as a few other ONVIF players that can stream both, video and audio from my camera and still let me play the background music (which is running on Youtube Audio app) but NX Mobile Client will cut the audio fully.
That would be great if we could just have an option within NX Mobile app to disable audio like we can do on the Windows Desktop Client.
Cheers.
Igor

Hi There,
Do we have an update on this one? this is pretty major for us here and I would like to understand whether or not I can commit to NX for my coming up projects. Thanks.
