NX Witness Client hardware info

Well i have been running a NX Witness Client for a few years now, but the NUC has stopped doing it’s work.... To bad for me but also a new challange to find something new to run the client on.

My thoughts go for: 

- Rasberry Pi 4 8Gb

- Nvidia Jetson Nano

It will only be running the client version because the server is running on a other NUC.
This client must be sillent because it stands in a living room with a monitor on connected.

So i hope you can help me out and find the right choise.

Any ideas are welcome.

  Hi M van Amelsvoort,

  The RPI and Jetson are ARM-based boards, and although we have a client available for the Jetson, it is currently in the experimental stage.

  So I would recommend using a x64 architecture instead for production sites.
  Check THIS support articles for our recommendation, although for your situation more lightweight and passive cooled hardware might apply.

  I'm surprised that the NUC died. Mine is still going strong after 4 years. Isn't it a matter of fresh OS install and/or replacing the SSD/HDD?

  Already changed the SSD, Memory, i think the power supply or board itself give up on me.
  It wasn’t a new NUC because it was ment to be only for the client with one monitor in the livingroom.
  
  Going to think about what will be best for in the living.
  Maybe will make a new server, and put the NUC that is running the server in the living and go for a more powerful server setting with more camera license on it. I’m 2 - 4 short on licensee.
  Now running 8 cam’s without any problems. People who see the system and how fast it is on search and how good the motion settings work really love it and few of them already tested and bought the product. Even the police enjoyed NX Witness when they were here for evidence.

  For now i’m going to save some money and overthink what i will do.

  Regarding:

  You most likely don't, but if you want to max out on performance, the recommended hardware should be your choice.

  But for a static display with a few cameras most likely can be done with more lightweight hardware. I have used the Intel Compute Stick with Windows 10 in the past for the client, and it did the job just fine up to 16 cameras, but the noise of the fan was horrific, I wouldn't want to have that in my house.

   

  Using the NUC as a client and buying a more powerful server for Nx and other applications sounds like a plan I would consider.
