Locating the HWID with direct hard drive access only

Is the HWID located in a file on the hard drive of the NX Witness system? I need to recover the license keys of a failed system as it will no longer boot. The system was set-up originally on Ubuntu. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

  Hi @...,

  Sure. Head to the following location: 

  /opt/networkoptix/mediaserver/var/log

  Here you should find a file called: hw_log.log

  This file contains the hwid and can be revealed via the following command: 

  cat hw_log.log|grep HWID

  Is this the same hardware ID the license are tied to? When I submitted it for license key deactivation they said it should be 34 characters long but this is 32.

  Hi @...,

  You should have got a whole list of HWID, and these should be fine for license deactivation.

  Can you share the output of the latest entry of the following command:

  cat hw_log.log|grep HWID

  It should look like this:

  With this output I should be able to provide you the HWID you need for the license deactivation. Do you happen to know how many license keys or channels are bound to this key?
