3rd Stream support feature
AnsweredSupport in NX to cameras 3rd stream.
We are asking that because they are testing Dauha camera that have 3 streams.
In the 3rd stream the analytics overlay is burned on the video and then we can get the analytics overlay in NX

Hi.
I also like to see support for 3rd stream.
It would also be very nice for video walls and multi monitor clients.
But are you sure that Dahua will burn in analytics overlay on 3rd stream?
I have never seen that, but it would be very cool if they had this feature.
What model and firmware are you using?0 -
Hi Fredrik,
One of my customer have a beta f/w they received from the local Dauha branch.
They are now testing this 3rd stream with other VMS.
I will try to get the model and f/w info.

Hi!
We are working on some improvements that will allow changing profiles, take a look at this thread: https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360047726054-Is-it-possible-to-choose-ONVIF-profiles-to-connect-other-streams-instead-of-primary-secondary-
We don't have plans for full support of all 3 streams, currently, we don't see many applications for that. And will take too much dev efforts and other big and very needed improvements will be postponed. But we will let users use 3rd stream (e.g. instead of 2nd).
Will that help you?0 -
I like the idea to be able to edit the streams.
That can be handy to fix some issues when cameras are discovered the wrong way and scenarios were you want to change to a burn-in analytics stream for the camera itself or 3rd party analytics like VCA
But I would be careful not to change to many cameras to use higher res 3rd stream over 2nd stream.
System load for MD and so would increase a lot.0 -
Fredrik Ahlsen yes, you're right, those are advanced settings and 2nd stream resolution should be less than 11280x720. In that case, primary stream can be changed, too (so 3rd stream will become primary).
Regarding the topic, what are the features/benefits of the 3rd stream?
Burning bounding boxes on a stream does not sound like a killer feature, I think several manufacturers have this and they burn it on the primary stream and it works fine.
Also, there are ways of passing bounding boxes as metadata and we support more and more cameras so they will show bounding boxes inside Nx.
@... can you elaborate, what are your use-cases?0 -
To me its most useful for displaying a lot of streams on multiple monitors with a nice image.
I would set the 3rd stream to be in between the high res primary stream and the low res "2nd" stream.
So when I got 6 x 4K cameras open on one monitor I like to display the 3rd stream.
But this is not on the top of my list for xmas. So I fully understand if you prioritize other features.0 -
Hi Tagir Gadelshin
Currently the only reason I'm asking this feature is in order to get the bounding boxes. It might won't sound like a killer feature but here in Israel many integration companies work with Hik and Dauha analytics and the bounding box is a must have in the VMS.
The fact that I can't get in NX makes it difficult on us to sell NX.
Maybe you can do something specific for this Dauha f/w?
Thanks

we have this in plans (see Use camera stream and profile settings as-is checkbox)
So this improvement will help you with showing 3rd stream instead of the primary.

Any idea when it will available?0 -
@...
No, unfortunately, I can't give any deadlines. I can only say that it won't be available in our upcoming 4.2, we had to postpone it in favor of other fixes and improvements.
It can become available next year in patches, but also, no promises here.0 -
