Opensource ANPR plugin

Hi,

Do you have a plan to add an opensource ANPR plugin to NX as you did with OpenVINO? It would be nice to have a camera independent free ANPR plugin with NX.

  Hi @...,

  Currently, there are no plans to create a plugin.

  If you want to use an open source ANPR solution, you could use OpenALPR and you can modify the alprd.conf file to enable the option to send HTTP events to the Nx Witness server application. 

  Is there an open source ANPR solution you would recommend us to do the integration with?

  Hı Norman,

  As far as I know, OpenANPR acquired by a Company and they are not a free platform anymore.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

  I don't know if there is an Opensource ANPR product available. I did not know OPENVino architecture also until I saw it in Marketplace. I am hoping you may have something similar to OpenVINO integration.

  Hi Tolga,

  You still can fork the OpenALPR project. According to their license agreement they comply to GPL 3.0 so you still can use it for free if you do the work that applies and follow the license agreement. You can use the ready out-of-the-box solution but that is paid. Open Source doesn't necessarily mean free, often it is the case, but sometimes it is not. Frequently open source applications are free for non-commericial use, but paid for commercial use. 

  

  At this stage an integration of the OpenALPR solution is not on the roadmap.
