Storage backup across servers
AnsweredIs is possible to configure realtime backup so that Server A store backups for cameras on Server B, and at the same time Server B store backups for Server A.
The goal here is that even in a failover situation where one of the servers go down, one will still have access to the recordings.

Hi Fredrik,
Currently, that is not possible.
There are a few options possible at this stage.
- Create a Samba server on your Ubuntu server and add this Samba instance as external storage and set it as a real-time backup.
- Use a sufficient NAS storage device and add this as external storage and set it as a real-time storage backup.
- Use the Veracity Coldstore solutions and add this as external storage and set it as a real-time storage backup.
- Use any storage solution the follows our storage SDK and add this as external storage and set is as a real-time storage backup.

Hello!
Is this still not possible? In my case I want a camera from VCA technology with nx embedded to simultaneously store recordings on its embedded NX-server and on another external NX-server. This as a backup if the camera gets stolen.0 -
Hi Josef Lindberg,
Please contact VCA to discuss the options of their Edge cameras, and possible Backup options.

But I want the storage, both primary and backup, to be in a separate NX`-server, isnt that your case?

Hi Josef Lindberg,
If that is what you want, you can follow the steps mentioned above, however if I recall it correctly, the VCA Edge plugin offers other options, but VCA should be able to provide you all the details.

Hi Norman,
One possible way to accomplish this, but I have never tested so I don't know how Nx will handle this, would be to share on the central server a locally unused HDD or folder that the central server is not using for recording, it is for "read-only", and add it as SMB to the edge or remote server as backup.
Note: This requires a VPN connection between the Edge/remote and the central Servers, I don't suggest opening SMB ports to the internet.
This means the Edge/Remote server will record to it's local storage and backup simultaneously (or by schedule) to the backup storage on the central server.
As I said, I have not tested this, but I would expect that at least when you reindex the central server it will index the contents into ""Camera from other servers and removed cameras" for the central server.
I do suspect there might be problems because now the Edge/Remote server indexed those recordigns as backup and the central server also indexed those cameras as "from other servers", but I don't know how much the Nx system will work around this.
Would this be a possible solution for any Nx based solution?

Hi Miguel Câmara,
That would certainly be possible, and is similar to the first option I suggested, to use Samba.
