Users able to share/see layouts

Hi. It would be useful for a user who is not an admin, to be able to create then share a layout to other users.

They would need to be able to see other users to do so.

I would also like a user to have the rights to create/add other users.

Currently I can only do this if a user is admin- which gives the user too many rights to alter camera settings etc.

Suggestion is being able to have the ability to add users and share layouts as options within a custom role- without being an admin.

  Hi Glynn Thomas,

  We've been thinking about this functionality a while, and it seems to be necessary that user who can create/edit other users has the full permissions – camera settings, archive, export, ptz, etc.

  Otherwise there'll be a lot of weird cases when user who has permission to edit other users (admin) cannot do it because user he wants to edit has access to cameras admin doesn't have access to or has permissions doesn't have access to.

  We have a feature called Instant Sharing, wouldn't that do the trick for you for now?

  Thank you Norman. Yes that works, however other users can't see other users layouts unless all are admins...as far as I can see.

  Alexsandr: Sorry, I disagree. It is not necessary for a user who can add users to have the ability to change camera settings. We as the installer change the settings of the cameras during install etc, but do not need to be involved in every new user addition.

  The same applies theory applies for access control systems- we as the installer set up the system, door programming etc, but the receptionist is able to add users . The receptionist certainly does not have the ability to change the systems actual programming.

  Easiest way would be to add the option of ticking a box on the Advanced user role to allow addition of other users.

  Also would be great if other users would be able to see other users.

  Glynn Thomas,

  Anyone that can save a layout, could change it as follows; 

  1. Open the layout that is accessible by all applicable users. 
  2. Change it to your liking and Save the layout. 
  3. The layout will instantly change for all applicable users. 

  Not sure what the workflow behind this request is, but if you want to bring a certain camera to the attention to certain users, you also could create a soft trigger that open a layout or and Alarm Layout. 

  Please elaborate what the use case is that you are looking for a solution. Maybe we can suggest an alternative way for the time being.

  Glynn Thomas I guess what Aleksandr is trying to say is that adding users should not allow you to elevate your permissions level by creating/editing a user with more permissions than you have.
  
  That means any user with hypothetical "create&edit user" permission can only create or edit users with the same or lower permissions level.
  
  And this logic is quite unclear and complicated (even one tickbox difference will block you from editing users).
