access to local network switches through built in web browser
AnsweredHI,
I was wondering : since 4.1 now has a built in web browser that allows access to the webpage of camera. How about allowing this also for other web based network components ? It would be nice to be able to reset a camera through the local switch. I think this needs to see the hat component as a device in the hardware tree, might allow for an extra license.
anyone agree witht his ?

Hi Johan,
You can access the web interface of a camera through the Camera Settings menu, and resetting should be possible, except maybe for some old-fashion devices that still require activeX and thus the use of Internet Explorer.
Also, you should be able to reach most devices, including switches, via the in-client web browser. This browser was replaced in 4.1 and should be able to achieve what you are asking. See below where I accessed my modem/router.

Norman,
I understand but I did not give enough info.
The advantage of the built in web browser is also that it allows to acces the web page of a camera, remotely, where the server acts like a proxy. web pages are loaded locally I presume. So the switch/modem whatever, should be seen as a device where the local server acts like a proxy.
Does this make more sense ?

Hi @...,
Thank you for the clarification. Now I get it. For now, the only option is use a VPN of port forwarding to achieve that.
Not sure if a proxy for the connection is something that will end up on the roadmap, but I like the thoughts behind the idea.I'm confident our product team reads these message, and they will decide if this becomes on the roadmap and with which priority. I hope a lot of people will vote for this feature.
I'm also curious about the opinion of other community members about this feature.

Can this be achieved by adding a webpage into the layout?
