Workflow for video content search
AnsweredHello,
I have two questions regarding the workflow for finding specific content (here: bookmarked barcodes) using the VMS.
We are using OCR to automatically detect barcodes and create bookmarks for them. Later we use the number to find the specific bookmark in the video. We noticed that it does not seem to be possible to enter only a substring into the search bar to find a barcode. Example: The number is 1311144158 but we already know that the last 4 digits are what makes it unique, so searching for 4158 would be enough. We have to enter the whole string though or it will not show up. Any way around that?
Second: When doing manual search for a barcode in the video (i.e. pausing and trying to read the number in the image), after a few seconds a "pause" screen is coming up in the layout. This prevents the image to be visible as it darkens and blurs out the content. One has to move the mouse to make it go away before it appears again after some more seconds. I can understand that this easily conveys that a video is paused, but apparently it makes working with it more tedious, so is there a way to turn this off?
I am already thankful for your responses.
Best wishes,
Markus

Hi @...,
Regarding your first question. Our team is working on the improvement of the bookmark search and it should be improved in one of the future releases, likely v4.2.
JIRA-VMS-6912
Regarding your second question. There is no way to turn this off, but this would be feedback I would definitely share in the New Features Ideas section so our product team will be aware of this request.

Hi Norman do you have any news on it in the next coming version ?
@... we are looking for such function, can you share with me your experience ?
We got a project with SI and need to scan the barcode, and send them to Nx using Generic event (or API). Later we might be able to find them using the bokkmark tab (or object tab).

Hi,
We got some logitic centers in Africa interested in filming the conveyor belt, there should be one camera per conveyor.
We than run an OCR on adittional server, and send the tracking number (based on barcode) to Nx.
Later they would like to be able to read the video by typing the tracking number (object or bookmark tab) so they can check the parcel location and condition easily.

Thanks for fast reply !
As @... we might be able to do partial search in the object field anyway no ?
Cause we have same request in with ANPR camera : AB123CD
If we search AB123 in bookmark we have result, if we search 123CD we have no result in bookmark...
If we search AB123 in object we have result, if we search 123CD we result in object tab ?

Guilhem Decoux - not with the CD, if you type 123 it should return all results with 123 in them with the object tab. I will speak with the guys to clarify what we will be implementing and estimated timeline. Then I will call you.
