V4 Cameras disconnection notice
AnsweredHi,
On upgrading to V4, I now get camera disconnected notices, that I did not get on earlier versions (V3.2 etc).
Within alerts, I remove network issue, to remove errors due to packet losses.
Upon upgrading any site to V4, I still have network issue unticked, but now receive camera disconnect reports that are simply packet losses.
Is there anyway to increase the disconnection time, before it sends out an alert- so that packet losses do not trigger the alert?
Thanks,
Glynn

Hi Glynn,
You can't increase the disconnection time, but it takes quite some effort before a camera shows as disconnected.
Such issues as RTP package loss and cameras disconnection should be resolved and not ignored by disabling the notification or adjusting the thresholds. The thresholds are already quite conservative.
Please check THIS support article for possible causes.
1st things to do are:
- Update the cameras to the latest available firmware.
- Often more affordable cameras do not have sufficient hardware resources to keep up with the number of requests of the VMS. You can reduce the load on the cameras by reducing the framerate and/or quality.
Also, please check if the switches in the network are set up correctly so the video data get priority over the network.
All can be verified with Wireshark. In case of RTP package loss and most likely the camera disconnections in the case as will won't answer the server TCP requests in time.
