Cloud storage
AnsweredIs there anyhow, to achive the ability to have storage in the cloud, like google drive, dropbox or amazon's.
The nx seems to be ignoring 'Local Hard Drives' that are aliases for cloud folders.
I am aware of the ability of nx to work with smb storage, but the smb over the cloud doesn't seem to be ideal for our situation since we will be costy.

Hi Kamal,
We are aware of people creating such options with the help of our storage SDK, but there is no default option at this stage for cloud storage. We are trying to add cloud storage ourselves in 4.2.0 -
Hey,Thanks for the response. Are you aware of such a solution that offers what i am seeking?I would like to purchase such a solution or participate in testing one.I understand they are 3rd party developers but if you can help me make the connection with them, that would be great. Also, when is 4.2 is expected to be released?0

Hi Kamal,
You could reach out to mr. @... of iOOS. If I recall it correctly they can offer you a solution to store the data at AWS. (and many more awesome solutions with Nx).
Regarding the release of 4.2. The only certainty is, that it will be released after 4.1, which is currently scheduled for Q3-2020.

Hello Norman,
We are official Nx distributor in France, working with James.
Can you give me more information about cloud storage, can we get it in next coming 4.2 ? Or should we wait till 4.3 ?
We like to offer our customer a way to do cloud storage, but not as main storage, more like a back up solution like we currenlty do with samba on Nx Witness.
Pcloud might be a great opportunity with 2Tb lifetime storage for 350€ (and storage in Europe), just can't figure out how to connect with Samba...

Hi Guilhem Decoux,
Cloud storage is postponed until further notice after v4.3.
Regarding PCloud; most likely they use object storage, while Samba requires block storage.
In general, for cloud storage object storage has advantages, but for video data, block storage has its advantages.More about this topic can be read in this 3rd party article.
