Raspberry Pi Camera 2nd Stream

I have been testing using RPi 3 with a camera, and it works fine "out of the box", but I by default it does not have a low res secondary stream.

 

In my test case the camera has a resolution of 1080p, in both streams.

This means that if I want to have motion detection or to use SmartSearch I would have to force the motion detection on the 1080p stream, which uses a lot of the CPU.

 

Is there someway to make use of a lower resolution stream?

  Hi Miguel,

  All is depending on the camera application on the RPI. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no application available yet for the RPI that provides dual-streaming of 2 different resolution streams.
