Supported Joystick Make/Models
AnsweredHi,
Apart from Axis T8311, what other joystick make/Models are supported?
Thanks,

Guys, can you share with us which specialized joysticks or keyboards you use for Nx platform and do they work properly or not ?
( I know Axis T8311 is working properly but we are also looking for some other joysticks and keyboards to test , pls do not mention Xbox controller ;-))) it is nice and funny it is working but totally unprofessional ;-)) )

Tomasz,
Allthough the Axis joystick is the only officially supported joystick, most USB joysticks will likely work. The issues that we most often expected are the buttons.
I even have seen someone using a Logitech gaming joystick.
Personally I still prefer to use a mouse and numpad, since this is faster and more accurate, especially in situations with a bit more latency.

Thx. Customers ask us not only about joysticks, but also about keyboards.... Did you hear anything about keyboards, for example this one?

Hi merato,
You can download it HERE.
First connect the Xbox controller to your OS as described HERE.
Then execute the .exe file I shared above.
It might require installing Visual Studio in case you get a 0xc000007 error notification. When this is done, you can open the Nx Desktop client and use the controller to control your PT cameras.
Ps. the application was from 2016 and doesn't get any maintenance anymore and bugs might occur and might not be resolved at the moment.

A lot of our operators like the buttons on the Videotec DCZ joystick with our current system. Any chance of that being supported by NxWitness? Alternatively, as mentioned in a previous comment, what about support for the AXIS T8312?
Cheers,

Regarding PTZ controls, we understand the importance of accuracy and speed when operating your equipment. That's why we've been focusing on utilizing advanced PTZ controls that allow for more precise movement with the use of your mouse. Additionally, we encourage our customers to explore readily available applications that can be programmed to meet their specific needs. We've seen many customers successfully using customizable macro keypads such as the Elgato Stream Deck, building button panels with Raspberry Pi boards, and even using mobile apps to convert their phone or tablet into a fully programmable button panel.
By utilizing these tools, we believe that our customers can improve their flexibility and offer added value to their own customers. This approach allows for a more customized and tailored experience that can better meet the needs of each individual user. We hope this information is helpful, and please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Norman - Nx Support Thanks for the info! It was really useful!
We tend to use a lot of our buttons to open new layouts. I take it its just a matter of using the server REST API and generic events to open new layouts? Seems like that's what other people have been trying to do.

Hi Kieran,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to touch base with you about Jonathan's topic about the Elgato Stream deck. He got stuck at the authentication part and while my colleague offered some guidance, Jonathan hasn't responded to their suggestions, so we're not sure if he was able to resolve the issue.
In the past, I have used Node-Red to create button panels for executing Generic events. However, I must admit that the method I used involved Basic Authentication, which we no longer support. It was for my home use only, which justified the use of basic auth. I wouldn't deploy it as such at a customer environment. HERE a short video I recorded a long time ago.
Currently, only Bearer or Digest Authentication is supported, but I haven't had a chance to investigate the use of Bearer or Digest authentication in Node-RED yet.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist further.
Best regards.

Hi Chris McKay,
Awhile ago, we added universal USB joystick driver support, meaning that most (so far all) USB joysticks can be used with our software. Besides the readily available USB joysticks of the major manufacturers, we have seen people using gaming joystick, game pads, etc. to control their PTZ devices.
With this universal joystick support in place, we don't anticipate in doing a new native integration for any joystick in the near future, since there is no need or advantage over the universal driver.Best regards.
