Unifi Switches - Port power cycle
CompletedI have migrated to Unifi switches for most of my larger installs. Unifi switches are great as long as you don't need anything beyond what they can do or if they break...
I am looking for the ability to send an http request to a unifi switch to power cycle the PoE port (via a soft trigger in NX). I want the users to be able to reboot cameras if there is a loss of signal before giving me a call. Unifi does not have an api but they said that it could be done if you packet capture the info...
Does anyone have a switch that would allow this or know of an easy way to make this happen?

Hi Matthew,
I'm not aware of any switches where you can power cycle the ports of the switch (or the entire switch), but often you can power cycle the cameras themselves via an API call. Might that be a solution? Try to reach out to your camera supplier and ask them for the proper API call and share the results with us.

Matthew,
If you have Internet access, install a Unifi cloud key and then you can manage the network remotely.(Alternatively the unifi controller can be run on a PC as a service, from memory the cloud access will only work on linux)
We have started doing this and find it to be excellent - Unifi switches, gateway and cloud key mean you can monitor the entire network from a browser wherever you are.

If using the Unifi controller software, it has an API that looks to support this. I haven't personally tested it though.
