Unable to Use Axis Camera SD Card Storage with ACAP Nx Meta App
AnsweredI installed the Axis ACAP server app (version 6.0.3.40736) on a new Axis Q6355-LE PTZ camera running firmware 12.4.60. Everything runs fine, but I’m unable to use the onboard SD card as storage within Nx Meta.
Here's what I've found so far:
- The SD card is properly mounted on the camera and shows 100% free space.
- I modified the
.eappackage to request access to the SD card and redeployed it. - The app installs and runs, but it never sees the SD card as available storage.
- Storage does not show up in Nx Meta under Server Settings → Storage Management.
- I SSH'd into the camera and confirmed the SD card is mounted at
/mnt/flash, but the expected path inside the app (/usr/local/mnt/flash) doesn’t exist. - I also tried manually bind-mounting it, but Axis OS restricts that even for root.
So as far as I can tell, the Axis OS is blocking the ACAP app from accessing the SD card even though the configuration is correct.
Has anyone gotten SD card storage working with Nx Meta on ACAP? Or is this a known limitation with Axis firmware or the ACAP sandbox?

Hi Mike Supczenski,
This behavior is expected. It’s likely that Axis OS is preventing the ACAP application from accessing the SD card, even though the configuration appears to be correct.
Due to changes introduced in Axis OS 12, we’ve had to stop the development of the Axis Edge Mediaserver. As a result, we currently provide it only as an experimental build for Nx Meta, our developer platform, primarily to be used as an example. The same applies to the VIVOTEK Edge Mediaserver.
