Daytime only Recording
AnsweredThere is a number of applications that a Daytime only recording schedule would be very useful. I am thinking something like a Warehouse or similar where the camera is mainly there for H & S purposes and the owners are not interested in security after lights out. The cameras in these applications tend to be a large MP and are not any use with the pitch black of an internal lights out situation.
Perhaps someone knows of way to this already with the advanced camera rules?

Jason - lights are on at night and during the daytime. So there's no way to tell the difference (even for humans) between day and night by simply looking at light patterns.
Recording scheduling allows users to choose and control when their cameras record based on a schedule because of this.

You can do this with recording scheduling.

Unfortunately finishing time in most freight depots is about as predictable as the weather here in NZ. that is not very. therefore the best presence indication is the fact the lights are on.

OK, I think I named this bit of a dumb way and haven't explained myself very well. The point of what am trying to do is record the camera when it is in day (colour) only. A simple way to know the lights are out is that the camera has switched to black and white (night) mode.
Then i can set it so when the camera is colour - Daytime or lights are on it will record. But when the camera is black and white which means the lights are out, so no one is there, we dont need any recording.
Is there a way to get the camera to notify that has changed mode or is there a simple way to just recognise the fact by the colouring in the stream from the camera in NxWitness?
Would also be useful for other things like changing the motion recording settings for at night or perhaps even triggering lighting for at night via an output.

Perhaps you could use an I/O Module (Axis P8221) and hook it up to an electric eye to turn on/off when the lights change? I haven't tried this, just guessing.
