How to search with exact matching value in advanced search

How should I input the search field in advanced search to view only the results that exactly match the value?
For example, when I input "gender=male" to obtain results with the value "male" in the gender field, it also includes results with "female" individuals in the search. It seems that this might be because the word "male" is contained within "female." The gender filter option operates in the same way as text search, so it is not possible to search only for males.

  Thanks for your post and detail. This is a known issue on 5.1.x version.
  We have fixed them in the Gen6 and likely would released the beta soon in this year.
