DW Spectrum causing Internet Upload speed degradation with Cloud disabled.
AnsweredI have a large installation a DW Spectrum 280 cameras, 3 servers. We installed the software in September replacing another brand of VMS software.
After some time the network administrator noticed the internet upload speed had decreased 95%. After looking at firewall logs they noticed the majority of the traffic was coming from the IPs of the servers. At the time cloud access was enabled. I disabled cloud access and noted no change.
Currently all cameras are on their own VLAN using 2 subnets. No off site connections are being made. Some local clients are connected.
If I disable recording on all of the cameras the upload speed returns to normal. And live stream is still available.
What is the software routing to the internet and how do we solve this problem? I have reached out to DW support and they have not been able to help.

Hi Jason D,
If the cloud is disabled, and there is still ongoing outbound communication, I would say the enabled anonymous usage statistics are the only data that is sent from the systems to our servers, but these all small packets. The most common practice is that the network administrator runs a packet sniffer (Wireshark or tcpdump for example) to check what is happening.
