Storing videos with human faces blurred
CompletedHi,
For privacy concerns, I want to apply blurring/pixelation on human faces and keep it permanent on videos stored by NX.
In researching this topic on the forum, I've only come across cases where the pixelation is applied in exported videos or in live stream views.
Is this technically feasible?
I already have a real-time face detection model, so I'm only interested in the integration into NX and the video storage part.
Cheers,
Mat

Hi Mat L,
Thanks for your feedback and questions. Nx Witness currently does not have the function of blurring the privacy sensitive part.
There are several 3rd party software manufacturers or camera manufacturers can do them from the source video side, i.e. blur the face from the source video then send the processed video to Nx Witness. However, it might not be resumed back to the clear image by this option.
If you can specify and ask the company/partner to develop Nx plugin, or ask them to kickoff the discussion for integration with Nx Witness, we are happy to help.
Thanks.

HI Ichiro
About this request, does Nx Witness has any integration or develop a tool for burring faces?
Thank you in advanced.

Thanks for your question. This feature is currently in our backlog, at the planned/technical discussion stage. Unfortunately, I don’t have an ETA at this time, and it’s unlikely to be available within the next year.
As a possible workaround, you could consider using your camera’s built-in blur function to obscure the object if needed. The metadata should still function normally. However, I’m not certain whether the blur is simply overlaid or actually embedded and transcoded into the stream — this may depend on your camera model. If it is a viewing level overlay, likely there might be some other extra work required.
Hope this helps.
