I am running spectrum and I have a visualint PTZ camera model VI-7000-PTZ-S-WH-VT with a built in speaker, according to visualint the only way to access the speaker is through the cameras web interface gui. When I login through the web interface on the laptop I can use the speaker by speaking into the laptop's mic, when I login to the spectrum app on the iphone I see the mic icon, in the lower left screen but when I press/hold the button nothing happens. 

any thoughts or experience with this, is it even compatable?

  I have zero experience with the device you mentioned.

  To check the audio capabilities, it should be checked with the Onvif Device Test Tool. Please reach out to your supplier to run these tests and check the output for the audio back channel.
