IOT support on Nx ?
AnsweredHi,
On My Nx I can't find any information about IOT software support, or link done previously.
Have you heard of a software that can be easily connected to Nx to bring IOT information to the VMS?

Hi Guilhem Decoux,
That is a very generic question and the generic answer would be that Nx Witness supports a lot of IOT solutions.
Actually any IP camera is an IOT device, just as any IO, etc.
We also have people controlling Nx with their Google Home device. See THIS video.
The most common tools to allow Nx Witness to communicate with or to are the HTTP events as described in THIS and THIS support article.
We also have a Zapier integration, as you can see HERE.
Other commonly used devices for Home Automation are the Allnet programmable IOT devices as you can see in THIS video. There are also people using the Home Assistant in combination with Nx Witness.
If you have a specific application you want to know more about, please share your case and there might be a solution.

Hello Norma,
Thanks for some on these useful links !
The IOT communication I'm looking for is more professional, we start in France to have some "smart project" : logistics, city, building...
It's mainly based on LoraWan and Sigfox network, with small energy saving devices : temp sensor, flood sensor, humidity sensor, CO2...
They all communicates with a third party software, that I loved to see working with Nx.
The real case we got close to our office, is a small city that is using sensors on river to prevent flood, some in city building to check temperatures, and other sensors in waste container to plan pick up of them only when full.
Already heard of such project done in the US with similar solution working with Nx ?
Rgds

Guilhem Decoux Nearly anything can be done with webhooks and HTTP requests. NX is CCTV software first. Would it not make more sense to integrate NX into your IoT solution vs building IoT into NX? This way you would reduce the chance of putting excess bloat on NX.

Hi Guilhem Decoux,
With our Nx server API, anyone can create any integration they want, but if they want 'professional' plugins, anyone can join our Nx Meta VMP program, and they can make their integrations as complex or simple as they want. The only limitation is the human brain.
But as Calypso, already mentioned, there might be an IoT management application and if they want, they also can integrate Nx Witness into the IoT management platform, depending on the specific use case they want to fulfill.

Hello Alexis and Norman,
Agree with you integration on the opposite side might be a good deal too, one of our integrator is pushing it to a convergent platform called "Prysm".
By creating this post I hope some people might already done some integrations, not yest listed in work with Nx.
I will keep you posted if we got some updated news.

Hi Guilhem Decoux,
I doubt you will find a finished integration between Prysm, the IOT devices, and Nx. Afaik Prysm can receive HTTP events, Nx Witness can sent HTTP event, so the integration exists. Many IOT device also can sent or receive HTTP event, and thus that integration exists as well.
To make it work together, all API documentation should be made available and the configuration of the communication between the applications can be done.
The Nx Witness API can be found in our WebAdmin in the For Developers tab.
Also, a lot of people like to speak about integrations like something mythical and complicated, while in many cases it isn't that hard when you use the API or even simple universal Ethernet relays (I/O).
Do you have some sort of documentation that explain the requirements of the integration?

Hi,
I know HTTP, and even I/O can be considered as a first layer, that is often strong enought.
I'm more interested in second layer, using API/SDK, and looking for such solutions.
Even in works by Nx would be useful to know wich solution are layer one, with ones are layer 2.
Right now we don't have real needs, just figure out the trend is moving to smart projects for years, and we finally start to have some people ready to pay for it.

Hello team, can we have the real time monitoring an IOT sensor over NX Optics?
I ask it because I guess http event it is only for example show up a camera, or send an email when a IOT sensor detect a temperature above X graus Celsius.
But if you need to see in real time what temperatura the sensor is, you will need something as bacnet or OPC, am I right?
Best regards

Hi Gabriel,
The most common resolution is the use of a real-time dashboard, for example made with Node-RED, these can be displayed as a webpage in the layouts.
But there are also out-of-the-box IOT devices that have a built-in dashboard, for example the Allnet 3500 devices.
How these work within Nx Witness can be seen in THIS video.

Hi @... twe made great improve on the IOT solution together with Nx.
We are displaying dashboard in HTML pages on layout, and using NODE RED to create generic events together with engine rules from Nx.
