High-loaded 24/7/365 client configuration
AnsweredHi, all!
For now, our client asks as for client configuration with next user story:
We need 24/7/365 run video wall with 2 FullHD monitors with 6*6 layout with 1MP(720p)/2MP(1080p) cameras, frame rate - 25 fps, h264 in good performance configuration.
We need to calculate client for the worst scenario.
According to https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015815928-Nx-Witness-Desktop-Client-Hardware-Specs, we need minimum 4-core CPU, up 32 GB RAM and GeForce GTX 1650 or better video card.
Is next configuration compatible to that case?
- Intel Xeon W-1250 (6 Core, 12M cache, base 3.3GHz, up to 4.7GHz) DDR4-2666
- NVIDIA Quadro P1000
- 32GB 4x8GB 2666MHz DDR4 ECC Memory
Client will work on Windows 10.
Is Intel QuickSync currently supported by NX Witness clients for Windows? (https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360050025834-New-Quicksync-Support-in-September-2020-Monthly-Patch-)

Hi @...,
It is impossible for us to make a statement for such a scenario, since the load of each camera can differ a lot when using the primary stream.
I wouldn't recommend displaying 36 cameras on a single screen through their primary stream, since this will increase the load on the client a lot, also it doesn't make sense since the resolution of the screen can only show ~320x180 at the max when you display a grid of 6x6.
So I would recommend keeping the resolution on Auto.
If that is the case a modern i7 CPU with 16 GB RAM should do the job for a dual monitor set up with 36 cameras on both monitors.
Regarding Intel Quick Sync, in Nx Witness 4.1 this is an experimental feature, but if everything goes according to plan, it should be a finished feature in Nx Witness version 4.2.
