Web Client to match the Desktop Client
Not plannedCan you guys build a better web client that closer matches the Windows Desktop Client? For inspiration here is one of the better DVR web interfaces I've seen from Video Insight.

Hi Jeff - anything's possible.
From your perspective what's the value of having a full-featured web client?

One of the main things I was thinking about was having it available spur of the moment if needed without having to install something first, and also on Chromebooks/Chromebox/Chromebit devices.

Jeff - thanks.
Typically spur-of-the-moment use is to view a specific event - e.g. a shared video clip or an event-based video clip received via email. Would you say that is accurate?

You are probably right about the spur-of-the-moment. I have a tendency to want to show off the system without having to install the client, but that may be a rare use case.
The Chromebook "client" is probably more on point with the need for a full featured web client. However I guess it could be a NaCl app or even a more advanced Android client on these newer Chromebooks with the Play Store.

Not discounting your idea at all. It's a fine idea.
Chromebook - definitely see a good use case for it.
Another good use case we've been discussing and working on designing/prepping for is a Cloud Client that gives a user the ability to connect to multiple Systems at the same time.
For example an Integrator who provides central monitoring.
Or a big end-user with hundreds or thousands of sites that operate independently, but with a central control room or location that monitors events across all sites.1 -
I think even a mid-level web client might be enough even if it didn't give full access to the camera settings and user management. As long as it included things like:
- multiple camera grid
- support for saved layouts
- the timeline
- access to the notifications
- smart search
- calendar timeline picker
