Email delay

I've setup some line cross events, and created a rule to email me.  Some show up within seconds, others up to an hour delay.  Both email accounts are gmail, and I experience no delay emailing from a browser.  The events appear instantly in nx desktop.  Does email sent show in a server log?

  Yeah, same issues.  I just need some clues where to look (logs?) to see what's at fault - vms, camera or email service?  Sometimes the email is within thirty seconds, others 45 minutes.

  Thanks for your information and reply. 
  The server log should have action event while it is in DEBUG or VERBOSE Level.

  What are the settings of your event-action? Have you set the action interval to be instant?
  The action would be triggered once the event was detected, so the email action is triggered at the same time as desktop client. 

  
  What if you tried some other email address or email SMTP server?
