    Hi Johan Dekker,

If you have installed 4.2, and upgrade to 5.0, the client still can connect to 4.2 systems.
The 4.2 client won't be removed. If you start the client, it checks the version and than it picks the version of the client it can use. 4.2 for 4.2 systems and 5.0 for 5.0 systems.

    Hi Norman,

Strange, when i install 5.0 and try to connect to a 4.2 system a get "incompatible server" and a promt to Download and install the 4.2.0.33306 client.

It stil looks like 4.2 is removed an needs to be installed again to run in compatibility mode. This is not convenient for our end users.

    Hi Johan Dekker,

That is correct. If the 4.2 client isn't available, it will prompt to download and install the applicable 4.2 build.

This is a one time process. Once installed, the notification 'incompatible server' stays and the client will restart in the compatible modus (it will use the other installed build). It isn't normal if it is removed.

So please, allow the system to download and install the applicable build and afterward toggle between the 5.0 and 4.2 system. It should not download and install the client each time you do this.

I have a similar issue. I have a server without internet. Once upgraded , it would not enter compatibility mode. We have checked it works if the client machine has internet it would download , install and enter compatibility mode. This process is required only once for that client. Understood.

However, we have many client to single server architecture.

On the machine with server and client installed together , (machine has probably 10 others users-controlled by AD) Client under other users will not work. It will work under admin user only as that login was used to upgrade. If login with other username it will still be old version.

It would not work for clients on remote machine as well.

We are not able to provide internet access to these client/servers.

Is there a way that upgrade contains files required for backward compatibility? And doesn't require internet

We are to transition from 4.2 to 5.1 or 6.0 We just experimented this with 5.1

    We using Win10 Pro
