Easier control of Layouts over an API

We often connect CCTV recorders into a video distribution system and allow the user to pull this up on a TV and choose which CCTV image to display.

We have been able to achieve this with the current generic events API, however it is not particularly easy or straight forward to set-up.  We have had to for each camera create a layout, then create a specific rule and tie that into each layout.  Firstly there is no easy way to copy and paste a rule which would make this easier, and also when you view all the rules there is no easy way to identify what the rule is doing (it would be good is the description was shown on the list of rules).

Ideally if there was a way to send an API event for the below layouts without the need for creating a rule for each.  If this is not easy then an easier way to create all the rules would be good.

• Camera 1, Camera 2, Camera 3, etc..
• 2x2 grid page 1 (Camera 1-4), 2x2 grid page 2 (Camera 5-8), etc..
• 3x3 grid Page 1 (Camera 1-9), 3x3 grid page 2 (Camera 10-18), etc..
