Non root user does not start into correct NxClient version
AnsweredHi there
Ubuntu20.04
There are 2 different logins on this machine. Currently on startup Admin logs in and NxWitnes client auto starts and logs in to Local host 127.0.0.1. direct no password required - works well.
When User (non sudoer) logs in NxWitnes client auto starts to login page with correct LAN address requesting user and password. On Nx login error message comes up with client and server incompatibility asking to re open Nx Client. Question 1 -How can this be when there is only one client installed on the system and in the admin login the server and client on the same update? Question 2 how can we make user have privileges to upgrade their own client. If in fact there are 2 instances of Nx client (users instance with out the required update??) opening
Please advise on how to allow User to open the correct client update to match server.
Thanks for consideration

Hello Glen Hathaway,
1 -How can this be when there is only one client installed on the system and in the admin login the server and client on the same update?
In fact, there is more than one client installed if you have connected to other versions of servers in compatibility mode at least once, or after updating the client.
See User Manual section "Working with Nx Witness/ Launching in Compatibility Mode".
Copies of the client are saved in:/home/username/.local/share/Network\ Optix/client/default
Here is an illustrative example of different versions of the client in my case.

2 how can we make user have privileges to upgrade their own client. If in fact there are 2 instances of Nx client (users instance with out the required update??)
Every user has the right to update the client by default. The client's suggestion to start in the compatibility mode is expected behavior, everything works correctly.

Hi Roman
Thanks for your reply
Soon after posting this question I came to the same understanding of what was happening - thanks for confirming that.
Cheers
