    Thanks for the idea!

We are planning to introduce camera folders, as discussed here: https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115010428928-Resources-Tree-Need-more-levels-branches

If those folders would be available in Nx Mobile too -- would that help you? We don't have plans for this, but we will consider adding it there in the future.

    Hi, Jordan IUNCKER
Unfortunately, those requests are not smth that can be released in a week :)

I wish we had this speed of development, but the reality is that we have a lot of feature requests.

During the roadmap discussion, we prioritize critical issues and features. Everything we do pass through a thorough design and testing process. So some features are postponed for several releases till we can deliver them with appropriate quality.

Anyway, thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience!

And, btw -- what about my suggestion? You didn't answer if it will help you or not..

we are thinking of adding folders in Nx Desktop and (probably) in Nx Mobile.

Imagine google Drive or Dropbox, where you put files in folders. We will do the same for cameras. And that will help you organize cameras.

So you can create Group 1 folder and put there some cameras and Group 2 for the rest of the cameras.

    Hi Tagir Gadelshin

Okey I understand, but if you put the camera 12 in first, and after the camera 1..

In NxMobile, you have same order ?

cameras in folders will have the same alphabetical order as they have outside of the folders, in the tree.

I thought you need to form groups of cameras so that you can put logically connected cameras into groups. E.g., all cameras from floor one or from a specific street should be together.

Anyway, I can only suggest waiting until the resource grouping feature will be released and see if it is useful. Before releasing that, we don't plan any improvements in the tree, unfortunately.
Resource grouping is really needed feature for all our users, and it is really asked a lot.

Later this feature probably will be added in Nx Mobile, too.

Meanwhile, can you explain why you need a specific order for cameras? How do you plan to sort them by yourself (e.g., by their order along the street, maybe?)

    Dear Tagir

In Camera Settings Expert we have the possibility to give every Camera a logical number. I tried this for grouping cameras for grouping cameras in IOS APP by setting the numbers to 11,12,13 - 21,22,23 - 31,32,33 and so on. But I didnt succeed in sorting cameras in the IOS app. So I dont see the function of giviong cameras an ID ?

Will this ID later used for sorting or grouping cameras in later releases ?

    Michael!

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the late response

We don’t have plans to use this ID for sorting, at least as of now.

The Logical ID simplifies device identification when integrating with third-party systems and is necessary in environments with input devices that are not capable of entering the full camera ID. Logical ID also simplifies the process of replacing one camera with another, without changing identifiers in the integration. The Logical ID can be used in API calls (including getting RTSP streams, etc) to address cameras.

    More about that: https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/articles/217051248-Camera-Identifiers

Can you please elaborate on your scenario, what you are trying to achieve, what your scenario is?

You can sort cameras by using camera names. Also, we are adding folders in the next releases: https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115010428928-Resources-Tree-Need-more-levels-branches

It should help organize cameras in the tree.

Thanks for the answer. I already have renamed my Cameras with leading Numbers for sorting.

I answered here not for solving sth for me, but in general, I thought that you could use this already existing logigal ID for quickly implementing an alternatively sorting method of cameras.

This property should be placed in layout property.

As I have seen here, you too have implemented a logicalID for each layout. I generally love those alternative individual possibilities for sorting or grouping, because you neednt change short names of items. So sorting (and perhaps grouping) by individual logicalID could be implemented for several other items very easily, because you already prepared your database for that.

Concerning my own issues or suggestions I will ask in my own thread.

As said, it is by far not essential for me. Just a nice to have.

    Thanks
    Over and out :-)
