Universal Client for Integrator

Hi,
As an integrator, we have many clients we connect to via Cloud from our laptops.
As these will always have varying versions (from beta testing, specific builds to address certain issues, etc), it is not possible practical to have all sites on the same version.
What would be awesome, is an integrator version only, that will talk to all reasonable versions (say 3.2 and up)- a version that will talk to the latest versions and versions below without having to reload and restart client each time you select another site.
A universal client version.... :-)

Can you please describe, which functions are 'must have' for such client? What should work independently of the target system version?

We would like all functions to operate ideally- as we use this for programming/configuring the system etc.
My reasoning is so we don't have to reload, restart connections to sites that are a different version to what is currently open.
If backwards compatible to 3.2 etc is not possible, at least all V4.xxx versions capable of running off the single client version?

Unfortunately, supporting all function is not possible. We are changing functionality and communication protocol a lot between different versions.

I haven't tried, but is there a way to install all the different version of the client you need side by side?

It already works this way. When you are trying to connect to an incompatible system, client automatically downloads and runs the corresponding version.

They're not actually installed "side by side" though are they? It installs the one you need at the given time, but the others are no longer accessible without reinstalling right? Again, not something I've tested.

Nope, they are actually installed side-by-side. Once downloaded, client version will be available locally and can be run manually from their folder (or you should create a shortcut manually).
