Soft buttons
AnsweredAbsolutely love the soft buttons!
It would be awesome if there was an option for a press and hold for 3 second style soft button, or a "are you sure" prompt.
I'd like to setup alarm system triggers, sirens, emergency relay shutoffs, but I'm worried about accidental button presses.
Keep up the great work!

Hi, Kyle, and thanks for the feedback!
I like your idea. We'll try to add some protection for soft buttons in the future versions.

Kyle, if you are using soft trigger so extensively, what else would you like to see there?
Do you have more ideas, or maybe do you meat some other limitations with existing soft triggers?

When a soft button is pressed, would it be great if you could have multiple nested actions:
Soft button pressed -> Do HTTP request -> notify users -> some type of persistent global visual on the camera view with another soft button that appears for the user to acknowledge the alert.
I really like the event engine in NX and I think it would be complementary with the push notifications in the next release.
Raspberry pi’s + NodeRed and also ESP32’s, such a powerful combo in conjunction with NX and soft buttons. Very inexpensive IO to any camera, but that's only scratching the surface, I’ll post some interesting use cases soon.

Great, thank you!
Do you ever face situations where having to attach soft riggers to the camera is not convenient or limiting?
Do you have a need for soft triggers to be not only buttons, but also indicate some state or show some information?

YES!! Being able to put soft triggers and I/O status icons on the layout background WITHOUT a camera is essential.
Having multiple actions for any event action would be great.
Another idea to prevent clutter if you had a lot of soft triggers is the ability to nest them. Press a button, then multiple options expand out of it. For example button for gate open, then you can select which gate.
The ability to have dual state soft triggers. Example is a light icon. Push to turn light on. Then icon changes to light off icon. Push and it triggers a different action to turn the light off (For example 2 cgi commands).
