Merging Existing Node with New Node Before Acquiring Additional Licenses
CompletedHi everyone,
I currently have an existing NX Witness server (Node 1) with 80 activated channel licenses, and everything is working fine. I'm planning to add a second server (Node 2), which will host around 200 additional channels. Both servers have different hardware configurations (CPU, memory, etc.).
Before acquiring the 200 additional licenses, I would like to know:
- Can I create a Hive between Node 1 and Node 2 without affecting the existing 80-channel license?
- Is it possible to merge both nodes into one Hive first, and then add the new 200 licenses later?
- Does the hardware difference between the two servers affect Hive functionality or performance?
My goal is to centralize management and utilize both servers efficiently. Appreciate any insights or recommendations before proceeding.
Thank you so much for your attention and participation.

- Yes, licenses are tied to server hardware, so creating a Hive won’t affect the existing licenses. Additionally, licenses can be shared among servers within the Hive.
- Yes, you can do that. Just keep in mind that if you want to bind the license to a specific server, you’ll need to ensure you're connected to the correct server when activating the license.
- No, as long as the software version is compatible, it shouldn’t be an issue.
