    Hi Guy

Nx Witness needs an underlying OS, be it Windows or Ubuntu.

As far as I know, you cannot install Ubuntu server onto HikVision NVR nor Unifi NAS (the later would be such a sexy Nx Server I agree)

You can use Unifi NAS as an external storage you could mount to mini pc running Windows/Ubuntu and launch Nx Server on top.

I too would love to see affordable rackmount candidate (I sense that's what you're looking for too), so far my quest has lead me to Terramaster U series. U4-423 and U4-500 for instance. The external PSU is a no-go for high end customers though.

When looking around I also found out QNAP has recently been listed as a Network Optix' technology partner. If QNAP allows sideloading a regular OS on their hardware I'd consider it for 50-100 cams servers.

I believe you can run NX Witness on Milesight cameras (only some specific types). But I've never seen it on a Dahua or Hikvision camera.
Like already said, you can run it on Ubuntu or another Linux distro (arm types), Raspberry Pi, …

Milesight is sending me a camera to test with embedded Nx running on it.  iPRO is also sending me a camera to test running Nx on it.
