Security Fix required: Cloud user unlimited session duration
PlannedHi,
Since the release of NX 5 cloud users have had unlimited session durations, despite an option setting under the security tab.
As noted in NX when the session duration is disabled there are security and system implications to this.
Additionally, as all our systems run over LTE, It also leads to issues with excess data consumption.
This has been raised on several occasions over the past year through the back channels, but there is still no word if it's being recognised or addressed.

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. We understand that it has security and other implications.
And this feature is in our roadmap with high priority. I'll try to keep you posted on progress.0 -
Hi Tagir,
Is there any update on this? It was first raised with NX over 12 months ago.

Any update on this?????
We have users burning through a month's worth of LTE data in a day.
Is there any API we can use to log users out?
NX UI recommends against using unlimited session duration for local users, but this does not apply to cloud users.0 -
This feature is planned for our next major release, 6.1, slated for the second half of 2025. While we don't have a solid ETA to share for that release, this specific feature was implemented and is undergoing testing now.
In the meantime, I tested several APIs in 6.0, but none worked as intended. A possible workaround is pushing a layout with no cameras to connected users via event rules (see below). Optionally, the layout can include a webpage displaying a message like "Periodic disconnect to save bandwidth." This stops streaming items and reduces traffic. Generic events are API-accessible, so an app could trigger this every X hours.
