Data management features for cellular data users: User timeout, framerate control for low res stream, etc.
Not plannedWe run into issues where we have remote systems that are connected to the internet via a cellular modem.
As it stands right now, when a client is connected, but no video is streaming, there is still well over a gigabit of data transferred over the course of a month. It would be great if this could be lowered or managed.
We would love to see some data management features such as:
The ability to lower the frame rate (1fps, 2spf, etc.) for remote connections, to allow live video in a time lapse form, until there is an alert/event. This is to conserve data usage.
We would love to have the feature of not streaming, until a remote alert is detected (motion, etc. based on rules). Then, a stream is automatically opened and displayed for a user defined duration of time.
We would love the ability to have data streams time out after a given length of operating, to prevent users from accidentally leaving a remote (metered data) camera streaming, resulting in cellular bills that can cost thousands of dollars.
I would think that these features (since they are mostly timer based), would be easy to implement.

Jason - sounds like an interesting idea - we'll discuss in our next roadmap meeting.
