Start and Stop Recording per Camera
NewHello,
I'm trying to set up a simple way to start and stop recording via Soft Triggers. I've used this article as a refernece guide - https://support.networkoptix.com/hc/en-us/articles/216914297-How-to-Start-Stop-Recording-using-Generic-Event-
From what I can see, you have to set a Soft Trigger and Generic Event per camera. It's not possible to make a single rule for all cameras individually?
In it's current format, if you just apply the rules to all cameras, it will issue the recording to all cameras regardless of which camera you're using the Soft Trigger? Example, I'm looking at Camera 1, I click on the Soft Trigger and results in all cameras initiating Camera Recording, Camera 2,3,4 etc. As long as Recording is enabled and they're selected in the Generic Event rule.
This doesn't seem to be a scalable rule, is there a better way to do this?
Regards,
Doug

Hello Doug Yeaman,
We're about to release 5.1 version where the issue you've faced is fixed. In 5.1 "use camera from event" option will be available for "Camera Recording" event.
5.1 version will become available in around 1 month.

Hey Doug Yeaman,
Sorry I haven't noticed your previous comment.
"Also record source camera" is the setting I was referring to. Can you explain in more details why it didn't work for you? What behaviour did you want to achieve? What rule did you create?
I created a rule from the screenshot below and it worked out exactly as I understood your desirable result:
I'm looking at Camera 1, I click on the Soft Trigger and results in Camera 1 Recording.
I understand I didn't use Generic Events, but I don't understand why to use them if you want to trigger recording using soft trigger.

Hey Veronika, Thanks for getting back to me.
We are trying to start and stop recordings via soft trigger or via a physical input in some way and the reference link below seems to be the only way to achieve this:
The image you sent would work perfect, if it wasn't a fixed duration and there was a way to stop it. The issue with the Generic Event is that it won't apply to the Source Camera, it can't differentiate between cameras as it's a generic event tied to specific source etc.
I hope this is clear.
