Can backup drives be used to extend length for a couple cameras?

Is there a way we could use the backup storage to extend the storage length on just a couple of cameras, instead of only making a duplicate of whatever is on the main storage?

For example say I had a server with 16 cameras recording to a main 4TB drive. Two of those cameras might be more important for long term storage. Could we specify that when the scavenger gets ready to delete footage on those two cameras it copies it over to a 2TB backup drive, extending the amount of storage on just those two cameras?

So I might only have one month of storage for all 16 cameras, but another 2 months of storage for those two important cameras. And of course when the backup drive gets full the scavenger would delete oldest footage there like it does with the main drives.

    Hello,

Yes, it is possible to use backup storage to extend the storage length for specific cameras instead of just duplicating the main storage. This approach requires a customized backup and storage management system.

For example, with a server handling 16 cameras recording to a 4TB main drive, you can designate two cameras as more important for long-term storage. When the regular storage reaches its capacity, a specialized "scavenger" process can kick in, identifying and transferring footage from these two important cameras to a separate 2TB backup drive.

This setup would effectively provide one month of storage for all 16 cameras on the main drive, while offering an additional 2 months of storage for the two specified cameras on the backup drive. The scavenger can manage the backup drive by deleting the oldest footage as it reaches capacity, just like it does with the main drives.
