Role Cameras and Resources bug
AnsweredI do consider this a bug vs a feature as it is not expected ux.
When selecting cameras for a role there is the Select All checkbox which is fine. But.. in the situation where all but a few cameras are wanted, I should have the ability to Select All, then deselect the few I do not want.
I cannot do that now... I have to select 198 cameras individually instead of deselecting 2 because when the Select All is active, the individual camera checkboxes are disabled.

Regarding:
Oh.. and if changing the name of the custom role, it forgets its resources. I don't think it should do that.
What version of Nx Witness are you using? I know this happened in the Beta version, but in the 5.0.0.35270 release, this shouldn't happen. I just checked it in my system and I could change the name of the custom role, and it keeps the selected resources (cameras + layouts).

Hi paul chandler,
I did some further investigations, and it is a bug. In 4.2, you could select multiple at once by selecting one, scroll up or down, hold the shift key and click, and every resource in between was selected. For some reason this doesn't work in 5.0, so I requested our developers to fix this.
Accordingly, I'll move this topic to the correct section, since it is an issue, not a feature request.

With regard to the role resources on name change... I have recreated what I did and is due to not proper sequence and not hitting Apply before changing tabs
To recreate. Click New role and optionally enter name other than "Role Name", but do not click Apply before moving to Resources tab. Select cameras tab and click OK. Now reopen the role just created and you will see the resources you selected did not persist. I just happened to notice it after changing the role name and assumed incorrectly that it was the name change.
Now.. if you click Apply on the info tab before moving to the resource tab, all is well. -
Hi paul chandler,
I checked, and it is kind of confusing this way, so I'll report it as a requested improvement.
It may have a bigger impact on the source code, therefore the fix might take some time. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi paul chandler,
Could you try the following private patch to see if it resolves the issue?
You can download it and find the in-client credentials HERE.
-
HI paul chandler,
Did the private patch resolve the issue for you?
-
Hi Norman.. not sure as I have not tried it yet. The issue with this particular client is that they have 10 merged servers and I have learned not to do updates if some of the servers are offline (and some always are being mobile)
I'm sure the patch will work as described and will be included in the next minor.
What I really need is a admin assistant role. Something between Admin and Viewer. A role that can administer users but not delete cameras or footage.
Thanks for following up :-)
