AXIS Speaker not working on NX 4.2
AnsweredHello to all,
We are running NX 4.20.0.32840. We have not been able to use any of our 3 AXIS speakers [C3003-E, C1004-E, C2005] in any way. Not as a mic or speaker with the PTT functionality.
All speaker uses firmware 10.10.73.2
Only the C1004E shows the red dot "Connected" icon.
Please send some light to overcome this situation.
Regards,
Miguel Dina

Check your settings? I use the C3003-E and C1310-E regularly without issues on 4.20.0.32840
Though, ive been using older firmwares i'll admit.
If you've got A Red dot one one, but not the others, then you haven't enabled recording for that device (recording is not required unless you need to save the audio!)

Any more news on this thread? Also having issue with C1310-E seems to not work after 3-5 days and server requires a reboot to get it functioning again. It does not go offline as such just PTT and audio clip can’t be used until the reboot.
Speaker is running 10.0.6.1 firmware looking for some help on this.
Thank you

Hi Daniel Francis,
Since there were no updates from Miguel Dina, I assume the issue was resolved with the suggestion of Brad D.
Your case seems different. Can you do the following?
- Assure the device is working
- Change the server log level from INFO to VERBOSE.
- Once the issue appears again, collect the VERBOSE logs and share these for further investigations.
-
Dear friends,
We have been VERY VERY busy. Much more than what i like to.
We were not succesfull trying to change the server LOG level to VERBOSE.
We got lost in the way in one ot the steps to follow in the guide.Found an article were somebody said about an specific firmware to use. We did but still nothing.
Speakers are listed on NX5 devices along with the cameras but no audio can be heared.
Regards,
Miguel Dina -
Hi Miguel Dina,
Please check THIS support article to learn how to change the loglevel for the Nx Witness mediaserver application.
-
Hi Miguel Dina,
When you recreated the issue, you can collect the logs from the following directory:
/opt/networkoptix/mediaserver/var/log
Just copy all files, before they were rotated, and share them through a download link with WeTransfer, MS OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, uDrop, etc.

Hi Miguel Dina,
Can you tell me the IP address and the camera ID of the affected device(s)?
When I check the logs for the IP address and camera ID in the screenshot of the start topic, I can't find anything in the logs, while when I search with the partial MAC address, I only see expected correct behavior in the logs.

Hi Miguel Dina,
Can you try the following v5.0. private patch? LINK
I expect that the fix we implemented for Axis devices in this build, should also resolve the issues you encounter. -
Hello, my name is Brando Martinez, I am the technical assistant of Hyper Industrial Technology, I will be relieving Mr. Miguel Dina in this case.
We just updated and the speakers are still with the same error. We even removed them from the server and added them back with this new patch and they continue the same.
If you need to connect to the computer to investigate further, do not hesitate to let us know
Brando Martinez,

Hi Brando Martinez,
The devices appear offline in your image, but also, appear to have no licence tied to it. Typically, this isn't an issue, but if not displayed in the layout, eventually they show offline in the device tree. Adding them to the layout grid, will get them online and should be able to be used.
If the isn't the case, please pay attention to the following:
After removing these devices, did you default these devices?
If not, please try if defaulting the devices resolves the issue, so we are sure no profiles, created with previous versions, affect the issue.
If defaulting didn't resolve it, please collect new VERBOSE server logs for further investigations.
- Enable VERBOSE server logging
- Note the start timestamp
- Open the desktop client
- Add the device to the layout grid
- If sure they won't come online, close the desktop client
- Note the end timestamp
- Collect the VERBOSE server logs
- Share these logs and timestamps

Hi Guys,
Any progress on this topic?
We have a project with one Axis C1310-E, we see the speaker go offline and online in NX.
We confirmed that the speaker is online in the network, we can connect to it and control. So it is not the network.
When we connect to the speaker and do a test (in local browser) the speaker comes online, and stays online aslong as NX client is showing the speaker in a view.Do we need a licence to add the speaker? don't think so?
Alternative: Does anybody know if the C1310 can be controlled (play audio) with a HTTP request?
Would be wonderfull if we can get this to work :-)

Hi Stefan Dekkers, Rene Krische
Can you check if the speaker works and can be added in the latest patch just released?In-Client Upgrade:
Build Number: 36528 Password: t70bgt -
I can't update.
Server is a Linux mini server: https://www.pg-securitysystems.nl/producten/camera-systemen/network-optix-nx/pg-nx-servers-nvrs/pgs-nx2-pg-server-incl-2x-nx-camera-licentie
Is this because Linux version is old?
-
Hi Stefan Dekkers,
This is due to the OS distribution could not be official compatible.(either too old or different distributions)
You may just download the file and then manually install them.https://nxvms.com/download/linux
Thanks.

Dear Stefan Dekkers and Rene Krische,
I would like to inform you that our team encountered some challenges while investigating the issue you reported. Initially, everything appeared to be in order on the VMS side, and no unusual activity was observed on the device side. However, upon reviewing the settings in the device, we discovered that the input had to be enabled to resolve the issue.
To enable the input, please follow these steps: navigate to the Device settings menu (1), and select Enable input (2). Once this is done, the connection will remain alive. I have attached an image below to assist you with the process.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and please let us know if you require any further assistance. -
Hi Rene Krische,
I hope this message finds you well. While I do not have the device in question with me to verify its functionality, I can offer some guidance based on my memory. To create the desired Event, such as a Soft Trigger in the example below, you can select the applicable device and choose the Action; Do Play Sound.
Please refer to the image below for further clarification:
It is important to note that the device is limited to playing clips no longer than 15 seconds. If you need to play longer clips, you will need to upload them to the device and trigger them using a Do HTTP request and the Axis API.
I hope this information helps, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
Does this answer your question as well Stefan Dekkers?

We still need to update the recorder to the latest patch.
This is planned for next week.I will let you know what the results are.
PS: Will you be attending FireSafety & Security Event 2023?
-
Dear Stefan Dekkers,
Thank you for the update. If you require any assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know. Additionally, the PG team is well-equipped to aid you with the upgrade of the system, including the operating system and Nx software.
Although I won't be able to attend the exhibition, my colleague Bram Duerinckx will be present at the event to represent Nx.
Thank you again for keeping me informed, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Best regards.
