Recording of Camera/s Simultaneously
CompletedI would like to ask if there is a configuration in NxWitness VMS on which I can record camera/s simultaneously using 2 Servers.
Currently, we have 2 Servers in a System sharing the same External Storage for recording. We have configured the System in such a way that all cameras are assigned to Server #1 and Server #2 is mainly for failover. What is happening now is that when Server #1 fails, Server #2 will take over the cameras (which is as expected), however, its seems that during the transition of cameras from Server #1 to Server #2 there is a 15-20secs camera capture that will not be recorded, then the recording will continue as normal thru Server #2. And when Server #1 is back online, the cameras will move from Server #2 to Sever #1 and there will be another 15-20secs that will not be recorded and the recording will continue as normal in Server #1.
With this regards, will it be possible that both Server #1 & #2 will able to record the Camera/s simultaneously so there will be no camera captures that willl not be recorded when a Server will fail or back online?
Thanks in advance.

Hi gerard oandasan,
Currently, the Nx Witness does not support the function you require.
There are two workaround options to achieve your goal.
A. Do the recording on two systems
- Detach Server #2 from the system, then deploy Server #2 as an independent system.
- Add all the cameras to Server #2, and start the recording.
Since both of the servers are on the same LAN and managing the same cameras, you might need to do the following configuration:
- Disable the camera optimization on one of the systems. (Likely on the Server #2 system.)
So the servers will not keep overriding configurations written by each other.
Here is the support ARTICLE for your reference. - Disable the "Server Conflict" notification on both systems.
Open the Main Menu > System Administrations > General > Event Rules, then disable all the Server Conflict Event Rules.
B. Add the cameras to Server #2 by the RTSP streams
- Disable the failover function on both servers.
- Select the camera then go to the Camera Settings page, and copy the Primary and Secondary Stream URI.
- Add the device to Server #2 by the camera primary stream URI.
- (optional) Go to the Camera Settings page of the newly added camera, click the Edit Streams button, and enter the secondary stream URI.
- Repeat the step 3 and 4 to add all the cameras to Server #2, then start the recording.
In both options, since both of the servers are connecting to the same external storage, with two servers doing the recording simultaneously will double the bandwidth between the servers and the external storage.
Please also make sure the external storage and the networking have the ability to handle double the current bandwidth.Thank you.

Hi Anderson,
Good day.
Thanks for the prompt response. This is very much appreciated.
With regards to the two options you mentioned below, this will require us to activate another set of license for Server #2, meaning if we have 10 cameras we will need to activate 20 licenses, is it correct?
Thank you and best regards,
Gerard

Hi gerard oandasan,
Sorry that I forgot to mention the license requirement in the previous reply.
Yes, both options will require the additional licenses for recording on Server #2.Thank you.
