    Hi Jordan IUNCKER,

We don't have that specific feature, and we haven't planned it either.

What we do have is the Search box on the top left of the Nx Witness Desktop Client.

In the current release you have to click on the Search box with your mouse and start typing and hit the Enter button and the applicable camera(s) will open.

In the upcoming release (5.0) a hotkey was added (Ctrl/Cmd+F) so you immediately can start typing and hit Enter to open the applicable camera(s).

    Hi Norman - Nx Support

No when you use Search box on the top left of the Nx Witness Client,
If you search "1" you don't only LogicId Camera 1.. You have many many results..
So if you hit Enter, you don't have only the camera

    Hi Jordan IUNCKER,

    That's correct, therefore I wrote:

    ....to open the applicable camera(s).

Continue typing and you narrow down the list.
I understand this is still different from what they used to, both methods have their advantages and disadvantages.

    Hi Norman - Nx Support

When you manage a whole city, and you need to chase a car through the cameras, you need to open one camera after another very quickly in full screen
That's why for example on <OTHER_VMS> or any other VMS you have the possibility to assign an ID to a camera and have a keyboard shortcut to use this ID to open the camera on your screen.
Nx Witness is the only one which does not allow it.

Please, we need a solution to solve this problem that we have with a dozen of customers.

    Hi Jordan IUNCKER,

If you want to request a new feature, please submit it in our Feature Feedback section, so our product team will be aware of the demand.

That being said, all roads lead to Rome.

A common practice is that people have multiple cameras on a single layout, double-click one to full screen and with the Shift + Arrow keys they can move between the cameras on the layout.

Others use Soft Triggers to move between layouts. The advantage of this method is that they can bring the camera with the person in the FOV can be shown large, while the nearby cameras are shown smaller, but this makes it easier to move between layouts.

    For example:

    1. If the object moves left, you click the Left Arrow and the camera left of the source camera becomes the large center camera.
    2. If the object moves right, you click the Right Arrow and the camera left of the source camera becomes the large center camera.
    3. If the object moves downwards, you click the Down Arrow and the camera left of the source camera becomes the large center camera.
    4. If the object moves upwards, you click the Up Arrow and the camera left of the source camera becomes the large center camera.
    5. If you notice the object in one of the other cameras, you click the + icon, and that camera become the large center camera.

The image is just an example, but since the layout can be designed very flexible, any layout is possible.

To create the layouts, the following rules apply:

Event = Soft Trigger >>> Action = Open Layout.

    Hi Norman - Nx Support

    Yes, I agree with you
I know there is this solution, but this one requires to have all cameras open on the layout.
A city with +120 cameras is not possible. NX is limited to 64 open cameras.
And this requires a lot of computer resources.
This is not a viable solution in all cases.
I will create a request for new features because it is really very restrictive for the operator

    Hi Jordan IUNCKER,

I think I didn't clarify something well enough.

    I wrote:

So not ALL camera on the layout, but only the cameras nearby / surrounding cameras on the layout.

This way you can see people moving from the large camera in the layout, to a smaller and when you click on the + that specific camera becomes the large camera, and the surrounding cameras change, depending on the area.

Downside is that you have to create a layout for each camera, which in your case is 120+ layouts. Which is a lot, but operators like this approach a lot, and is typically something they can do themselves. If you do it, I would choose to save them as locked layouts though.

The advantage opposed to the proposed solution (entering a number) is that operators don't need to know the numbers, they just navigate from the layouts. Downside of course is that the commissioning takes more time, but still is minor effort in the whole project.

    Regarding:

NX is limited to 64 open cameras.

    Please let us know if this is a problem in certain projects, We can change this number quite easily if we have remote access to the system to any number. Commonly people want to reduce the number, but if you have specific requirements, we can increase it as well, although we don't recommend it for various technical and operational reasons. For example, below 132 cameras in a single layout;

    Hi Norman - Nx Support

Ok I understand, I have to talk to my customers...

One last thing, my clients only have PTZ cameras.
So they have to use SHIFT + ARROW to switch to the other cameras, but they also have to click P to start using their joystick.
How can we use the joystick directly without clicking P?
I know that we can move the camera without joystick directly with the keyboard with the arrows and +/-.
But we still need to use P or click on the icon to start controlling the PTZ.

I'm looking for any solution to reduce all the actions for the operator.
Every second is important when an operator has to follow a car through a city so that it doesn't escape from his view.

    Hi Jordan IUNCKER,

Clicking P is mandatory to start controlling the PTZ.

I understand what you want to achieve, but unfortunately, at this stage there is no other option.
