    Hi Victor Kravchuk,

The flexible layout is one of the key features that distinguishes Nx Witness from most other VMS and is valued a lot by our users, so it is not something that is likely to be changed a lot in the near future.

    Some options that might do the job for you are;

    • Using the Minimum Grid Size option, which we made to fulfill a similar requirement and was introduced in version 4.0. See Video1 and Video2 about this feature.
    • Increasing the number of grid cells. When you right-click on the layout, you can select Layout Settings... and head to the tab Background, when you select an image for the background, either a digital map image or your custom logo, you also can change the number of grid cells, which makes the grid more or less dense and possibly more flexible to meet your requirements. I admit this isn't a very nice workaround, but it is an option.
    • Finally, and this is the most common scenario used for situation that are more or less comparable to your situation. You can predefine layouts and assign these to a group or specific users, so they don't need to create their own layouts, and these can be predefined per use case. You also can create rules to open the preferred layout based on the rule, to minimize the steps for the operators. For example, if a table operator triggers a button, a specific layout opens for specific users, including instant bookmarks, audio alarms, etc. If you create an 8+2 layout, operators can click-and-drag any of the 8 cameras to the cell of one of the 2, and they will switch position, easily as shown in THIS short video.

    Hi, Norman!

You cannot even imagine, what you did offer... During the every single day there are a lot of cases, when the operator must change most of windows to which are actual (between 12 card tables and 3 roulettes, for example).

I have prerared one layout - with the different window' sizes (16x16 cells, some of cells I have resized to the liked dimentions), and saved it like a FORM1. I filled this layout with any cameras and saved it. Next comes the quintessence. :) In the Nx layout parameters, there is no way to replace the camera - only by closing the window and clicking a new camera on the unused window. And, when I tried to replace the resized camera, it have opened in the small 16x16 format - the every new replaced camera must be resized again and again. This offer for layout preparing seems not a rational - because of waisting a lot of time (the casino operator must be an analyst but not the layout preparator).. With the background mode the result is the same - windows replacing calls the window resizing procedure.. And your last link offers to change cameras within the layout, but not replace the camera from the outside tree..

Maybe I did something wrong or do not know some Nx settings or tricks, but - prepared layouts must be offered by the any professional system.. Please, check the situation objectively.

    Hi Victor,

I think I understand the issue you try to describe.
If I understand it correctly, I also might have an idea to overcome it (would require developer efforts though).

Can you share a screenrecording of the issue you encounter? Preferably with your voice to tell what you expect and what you see.

You can leave this method as an additional, but prepare the layouts as a main feature

    Hi Victor Kravchuk,

I'm sorry, but unfortunately I do not understand what should be solved or changed?

With the flexible layout, you can create any layout you want, quick and easily, the only thing you cannot do, and which I see in the video, is dragging a device over another to enlarge it, which is intentional.

It is a pity. Will explain the porblem step by step.. :(

    1. I created and saved the 16x16 layout with a specific cameras - with the liked window's dimentions (some of them are enlarged twice, four times etc.).

    2. During a day and multiple times it is neccesary to change cameras in the layout.

    3. I cannot replace the resized camera with another on the same place and with the same (saved) window dimentions - the new one camera will lay to the same place with it 16x16 small dimentions, and I must resize it every time I change the camera. And operator will do this time's loosing operation many times a day.

    4. When I try to place the new camera on the camera I want to remove - it is impossible to change them one to another (but this option must be as a default: putting a camera on the empty place will open this camera, putting the new one camera on the existing camera will replace camera), I only have to close the old camera and put on it's place another - with the same small dimentions to be enlarged.

    5. When I try to enlarge any camera window near the other cameras - it is impossible, but the other cameras must move aside of the camera I am enlarging.

The system must have a prepared layouts, and dragging the camera to any camera must replace this camera (and dragging the camera to the empty window will open this camera). Layout must be empty - without any connection to the specific cameras, as you offer to. This (existing) mechanism could  have a place - like an additional instrument to the prepared layouts. But it cannot serve as a main.

If after this explanation you will say you did not get the picture - I will see it like you are making me a fool.

    Hi Victor Kravchuk,

I get it and see the use for it.
    I will discuss it internally.

    Hi Victor Kravchuk,

I just finished the internal report with the current behavior, desired behavior, and suggested solution to honor our design principles. By writing it down, I definitely see demand for such feature for a broader range of users.

Already discussed it internally as well, and other suggested solutions might be added. I don't want to give you any hope that it will be changed soon, since for the next release there is already a feature stop, for the release after that not yet, but this possible change has a significant impact that at this stage it is unclear when and if we can offer such solution.
