Doorbell with 2-way audio support in Spectrum
AnsweredI need a simple doorbell camera that has 2-way audio support in Spectrum. Ideally I would like to use something like the Axis a8105e, but according to Nx it does not support 2-way audio.
I have already tried a Hikvision and Samsung that only support 1-way in Spectrum. Trying to make sure I can get audio out to the integrated speaker.

Hi Jon,
We certainly do support 2-way audio. We even made a video about it.
Also, the 2N Helios intercom should work just fine in Nx Witness.
I also have seen people creating their own intercom units with the Axis P8221 I/O unit.

Hi Jeff Jones
Over a week ago I reached out to Amcrest and I'm waiting until their R&D team will reach out to me.
Hopefully we can verify this combination soon.

Norman, I am well aware of the ability to use two way audio in Spectrum. My specific question was which doorbell models are supported by Spectrum with two way. I’m not looking to use the I/O unit. I’m trying to keep costs and complexity down. I am waiting on the arrival of the Axis door station that Michael mentioned. They are of course on back order, just like any other popular Axis product.

Thank you for the clarification Jon,
If you received the unit, maybe it is nice to share your experiences with us via our integrations portal.

Solved :).

Has anyone tested other units like the Amcrest Wifi Doorbell Camera. They don't specifically list ONVIF, but they have a tutorial on how to add it to Blue Iris which instructs to use the generic/onvif profile (might only be doing RTSP or something).

HI Jeff,
Based on the Amcrest support article, I assume the Amcrest Doorbell Camera will work in a similar matter in Nx.
I also assume there is one catch and that is the audio since the support article states:
`Your doorbell is now ready to be viewed in the Blue Iris software.`
For me that is an indication, that video does work, but audio doesn't. I see the often with such devices. -
Hi Jeff Jones,
I have sent Amcrest another reminder. Hopefully we can verify this soon.

Hello Jeff Jones
No sure what to say. But I have sent another reminder to Amcrest.
Is this something you like me to pursuit? Or are you moving on to an alternative? -
Well I haven't found an alternative to move on to, but if Amcrest is having trouble communicating then put it on a back burner for a couple months and don't worry about it. Maybe they will eventually get around to it.
I suspect you are probably right earlier in the comments. Blue Iris is likely just connecting to the video only and not getting the full two way audio options like one might get if it were a fully ONVIF supported camera.

Hi Jeff Jones,
I started the conversation, so I would like to finalize it as well.
For now, I will set this topic to 'Answered' to remove it from the timeline of the community moderators, but I know and update the ticket as soon as I have answers. -
Hi Jeff Jones,
I gave up on Amcrest. Until now, I didn't get any reply from their R&D, and their agent gave me a reply overnight on a totally unrelated question, probably for another ticket. I'm sorry we weren't able to resolve this mystery.
