h265 - how to make it stick?
AnsweredRunning 3.1 of Nx.
Nx doesn't have any way to set h264 vs. h265 in the camera settings. So I go into the camera's web UI to configure the video codec to be h265 and set other parameters like fps. I save the settings in the camera web UI.
All is good, except as soon as I go view live feed in NxDesktop (Mac latest version) the camera feed has been switched to h264 from h265. The little info button shows it and I can tell. If I go back into the camera's web UI, I see the video codec was changed back to h264. I must assume it was Nx that changed the setting in the camera.
How to make h265 stick?
I have 3 cameras capable of h265, one has firmware from HeroSpeed the others are from SMTSEC. All are HiSilicon SoC's 3516A and 3516D and 3516C.
The HeroSpeed camera doesn't revert back to h264 when using Nx, it's only the other two that do.

Hey Zoran -
Thanks for posting. Sorry we didn't get back to you quickly!
The method you describe above to keep cameras' streams and settings is the correct approach. As H.265 gets more standard over time we'll be supporting it natively for some camera brands - especially Hikvision, Hanwha, DW, etc.

Hi Zoran
I also come across the issue around Nx unable to lock with H.265 codec. I used Dahua camera with H.265 codec and exhibited the same issue as yours. Thank you for your posting and helped me to resolve the issue. Expert tab (Far right) of Camera Settings "Keep camera settings and profile settings" enabled could make the h265 in camera codec stick and not get changed by Nx. I could see H.265 stream now!
