Better alarm managment and support
AnsweredThere is a need to upgrade the current alarm management in NX.
The current alarm management does not let you view alarms in a list in real time.
A better management will allow:
1. All the events pool into a list
2. An operator can assign an alarm to himself
3. a list of actions appears automatically
4. The linked cameras appear above
5. A map shows the active cameras flashing
6. The operator can dismiss or acknowledge the alarm
7. move to the next alarm
The alarm pool should hold the alarms coming in from every aspect of the software
including 3rd party integration.
A good idea would be to add an alarm API so 3rd party systems can report new alarms to
the Nx in a simple way.
Summary:
• Alarm management view
• Integration with maps
• Integration with 3rd party systems

Hi Itamar Kerbel,
I realize this is an old question - but those features are now part of Nx Witness for the most part.

This is fixed in version 4.0 with the renewed notifications panel.
2. An operator can assign an alarm to himself
This can be done for quite a while now. With the rules engine, you can specify which event, requires which action and to which user(s).
3. a list of actions appears automatically
See number 1. The events can be shown in the renewed notification panel.
4. The linked cameras appear above
For most events, there will be a thumbnail showing in the renewed notification panel and you can drag the notification to the grid to playback the relevant event.
5. A map shows the active cameras flashing
This can be done for quite a while now. Just set the action for the relevant event to Show Notification and you will see a flashing frame around the assigned camera(s).6. The operator can dismiss or acknowledge the alarm
The only option is to Acknowledge the alarm when Force Acknowledgement is enabled in the Show Notification action in the rules engine.
7. move to the next alarm
The events are displayed in order of occurrence in the notification panel with the latest event at the top.
The alarm pool should hold the alarms coming in from every aspect of the software
including 3rd party integration.

the Nx in a simple way.Events from 3rd party systems can be sent quite easily with our current API for quite a few years now. Please check our server API for /api/createEvent and/or the following link http://<your-server-IP-address>:7001/static/index.html#/developers/events

I agree. I see a trend where clients are more and more focused on alarm events, both in real time and to review events from the past XX hours/days in an efficient way.
I also hope to see more video analytic in NX. Maybe even built in to the NX1 so that it can take care of the analytics and make it work with any IP camera. Like the way NX handle motion.
