Backup storage analytics?
AnsweredIn NX we have storage analytics for the main storage. Where we can see an estimated days it will be able to hold on the disks.
For the backup storage there is no such thing?

Hi Andy Knuts,
For back-up storage there is no such thing, since the metrics are for all data that is stored, and as long as the back-up storage volume is equal or bigger the contents will be identical or longer in case only events are stored or in case bigger storage is used for the back-up.

I'm unsure what you mean with "as long as the back-up storage volume is equal or bigger the contents will be identical" ?
I have a smaller main storage and a much bigger backup storage. But NX is supposed to store older video data on the backup even while it's already gone from the main storage, right?
So it's not identical if the backup storage is bigger?
Without any storage analytics for the backup storage I have no way to tell how much data is actually being stored on it?
Does NX still do cycling on the backup storage? I mean, if it's full, it will remove oldest data to make room for new video data?

Hi Andy Knuts,
Regarding:

That is correct. Let's say you do real-time backup for all data, then in case of 10 TB main storage and 20 TB backup storage, the retention time of the backup storage will be twice as long. Unless you determined the maximum storage retention time, in that case the data will be rewritten, once the rentention time has passed, regardless of the available storage that is left on the storage volumes.
Without any storage analytics for the backup storage I have no way to tell how much data is actually being stored on it?
Correct. Not from the GUI at least, only when you check the actual files.
Does NX still do cycling on the backup storage? I mean, if it's full, it will remove oldest data to make room for new video data?
Correct.
