4.2 & 5.0 Client both installed

Is it possible to install both the 4.2 and 5.0 client on the same PC. Now when i install 5.0 the 4.2 client is removed. And not al the systems are already upgraded to 5.0.
With the 5.0 client it is not possible to login in a 4.2 system.

If you have installed 4.2, and upgrade to 5.0, the client still can connect to 4.2 systems.
The 4.2 client won't be removed. If you start the client, it checks the version and than it picks the version of the client it can use. 4.2 for 4.2 systems and 5.0 for 5.0 systems. -

Strange, when i install 5.0 and try to connect to a 4.2 system a get "incompatible server" and a promt to Download and install the 4.2.0.33306 client.
It stil looks like 4.2 is removed an needs to be installed again to run in compatibility mode. This is not convenient for our end users.

That is correct. If the 4.2 client isn't available, it will prompt to download and install the applicable 4.2 build.
This is a one time process. Once installed, the notification 'incompatible server' stays and the client will restart in the compatible modus (it will use the other installed build). It isn't normal if it is removed.
So please, allow the system to download and install the applicable build and afterward toggle between the 5.0 and 4.2 system. It should not download and install the client each time you do this.
