Nx Witness Desktop 5.0 introduces a Javascript API to integrate apps via the built-in web browser. Developers can embed their application in a webpage and use it to trigger actions within Nx Witness to create an integrated user experience.
The Nx Witness JavaScript API provides the following capabilities:
- Add/delete/manage all Nx Witness resources - Open or remove resources (camera, devices, etc.) from the layout. Also, apply settings to open devices (playback speed, timeline position, etc.)
- Error and event handling - Log messages or display them to users.
After users open a specific web page in Nx Witness using the built-in browser, they can interact with the options on the web page to trigger actions in the Desktop Client.
To take advantage of this functionality, users of the integration must open Web Page Settings > Advanced and check the Allow using Client API check box.
The Nx Witness JavaScript API can improve integrations that accumulate information from different systems by providing an advanced web-based search interface for users to be able to find events in the past and click on them to see associated archives from one or more cameras. This can benefit integrations leveraging data from License Plate Recognition, Traffic Monitoring, License Plate Recognition, and more.
