What are Default System Events & Rules?
Nx Witness, when installed, includes 18 different default events and rules primarily used for health monitoring and alerts. These rules are enabled by default and can be disabled by System administrators in the Rules Engine. and by operators in the Local Settings dialog in the Notifications tab. Most default events will either have Send email or Show notification as their default actions.
Default System Events & Rules
Device Disconnected
The Device Disconnected event occurs when a device has been....wait for it....disconnected from the System. This may happen because of power issues, device failure, network failure, etc.

Archive backup finished
The Archive backup finished event occurs when a scheduled archive backup has completed- Default Plugin Diagnostic Rule

The Device Disconnected event occurs when a device has been....wait for it...disconnected from the Server and System because of a network, power, or device failure.

Device IP Conflict
The Device IP Conflict event occurs when two devices in the System share the same IP address. This usually occurs when Systems and connected devices are set up with fixed IP addresses.- Default Device IP Conflict Rules

Generic Event
The Generic Event event occurs when a 3rd party product or software sends an HTTP Generic Event (aka CreateEvent API call) to an Nx Witness System.- Default Generic Event Rule

License Issue
The License Issue event occurs when licenses have expired or are no longer accessible (e.g. licenses were assigned to a Server which has been removed from the System or offline).- Default License Issue Rules

Network Issue

- Plugin Diagnostic Event
The Plugin Diagnostic event occurs when a Plugin sends an event to Nx Witness. This event is used by Plugins to alert operators of any issues related to a Plugin (e.g. lost connection to 3rd party device / software).- Default Plugin Diagnostic Rule

Server Conflict
The Server Conflict event occurs when there are two different Systems running on the same LAN / WAN / Subnet and Servers from each System are trying to utilize the same auto-discovered resources.- Default Server Conflict Rules

Server Failure
The Server Failure event occurs when a Server in a System has unexpectedly crashed or has gone offline.- Default Server Failure Rules

Server Started
The Server Started event occurs when a Server has been offline and restarts. This may occur when a computer the Server application is running upon has been restarted, the Server Tray Tool or Web Admin interface is used to restart a Server, etc.- Default Server Started Rule

Storage Issue
